Early on Sunday, July 13, SpaceX successfully launched a satellite into geostationary transfer orbit (GTO) from Florida’s Space Coast. At the heart of its mission success is a miniature high-precision ballscrew, designed right here in the Midlands by Mehdi Sabet and Tomas Moghadam of PGM Reball. In development since 2020, and with support from University of Nottingham’s Precision Engineering Centre and the Aerospace UP programme, this component enables the satellite’s critical actuation mechanisms. We’re proud to share that reports confirm all systems are performing as expected, with telecoms data now being received from the planned orbit. This milestone demonstrates how Midland’s space engineering innovation is playing a role on the global stage.
